Details of the Job/Internship
GIVA is hiring a Legal Manager with 5–8 years of experience to join their office in Bengaluru. The role involves overseeing legal and compliance matters in retail operations, providing strategic legal support across commercial, real estate, consumer, employment, and regulatory domains.
Role and Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts including vendor, lease, franchise, and service agreements.
- Advise on legal aspects of retail operations, including consumer laws, advertising, e-commerce, and promotions.
- Draft, review, and negotiate agreements and legal documents to ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
- Manage IP-related matters including patent, trademark, design, and copyright filings and responses.
- Handle legal issues related to store expansion, leasing, and real estate disputes.
- Support HR with employment law, workplace policies, and dispute resolution.
- Ensure compliance with consumer rights, data protection, FSSAI, trade licenses, GST, and other applicable laws.
- Assist management in identifying legal risks in business plans.
- Manage the New Store Opening (NSO) process.
- Draft and provide replies to legal notices.
- Provide legal support to business teams and assist with routine legal documents.
- Manage litigation, notices, and coordinate with external counsel.
- Implement contract management processes within and outside the CLM platform.
- Liaise with external legal counsel, secretarial teams, consultants, and government departments.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable statutes.
- Coordinate litigation and arbitration matters as required.
- Track changes in laws and regulations affecting the retail sector.
- Conduct training and develop internal legal policies to reduce operational risk.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B); LLM is an advantage.
- 5–8 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in retail, FMCG, or e-commerce.
- Strong knowledge of contract law, labour law, consumer protection, and retail regulations.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to balance legal risks with business priorities.
- Experience with retail leasing, franchise agreements, and POS compliance preferred.
