Details of the Job/Internship

GIVA is hiring a Legal Manager with 5–8 years of experience to oversee legal and compliance matters across retail operations.

Role and Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including vendor, lease, franchise, and service agreements.
• Advise on retail operations-related legal matters: consumer laws, advertising, e-commerce, and promotions.
• Manage intellectual property activities: patents, trademarks, designs, copyrights, filing, and responses.
• Handle legal issues related to store expansion, leasing, and real estate disputes.
• Support HR with employment law matters, workplace policies, and dispute resolution.
• Ensure compliance with consumer rights, data protection, FSSAI, trade licenses, GST, and other regulations.
• Identify legal risks in business plans and develop mitigation strategies.
• Manage the New Store Opening (NSO) process and draft replies to legal notices.
• Coordinate with business teams to finalize legal documents in alignment with organizational objectives.
• Manage litigation, notices, and liaise with external counsel.
• Implement contract management processes, including within CLM platforms.
• Act as liaison with external legal counsels, secretarial teams, and consultants.
• Liaise with government and quasi-government departments, courts, and tribunals.
• Monitor regulatory changes affecting the retail sector and develop internal legal policies.
• Conduct training to reduce operational risk.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB); LLM preferred.
• 5–8 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in retail, FMCG, or e-commerce.
• Strong knowledge of contract law, labour law, consumer protection, and retail regulations.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to balance legal risks with business priorities.

Salary/Stipend
