Details of the Job/Internship
Mirchi is hiring a Legal Manager with experience of 2–4 years to join their office in Mumbai. The role includes both non-litigation and litigation responsibilities, covering contract management, intellectual property protection, employment advisory, and representation before courts and tribunals.
Role and Responsibilities
Non-Litigation:
- Negotiate, draft, and manage agreements pertaining to licensing, acquisition, and distribution of content.
- Advise the company on employment contracts.
- Develop processes, templates, and approval parameters for agreements and contracts.
- Draft event management, sponsorship, and promotion agreements.
- Oversee due diligence for acquisition and lease of properties.
- Draft and vet agreements, including non-disclosure agreements, artist agreements, and corporate guarantees.
- Protect intellectual property and advise on issues relating to copyright.
- Interact with music, film, and entertainment industry associations.
Litigation:
- Handle civil and criminal matters, including cheque dishonour cases.
- Prepare pleadings, affidavits, court proceedings, and infringement notices.
- Liaise and meet external counsels in connection with litigation matters.
- Prepare documentation and paperwork related to court proceedings.
- Represent the company before courts, tribunals such as the Copyright Board, and regulatory authorities.
- Attend Magistrate’s Court for cheque bounce matters and provide evidence on behalf of the company.
- Attend arbitration proceedings, including drafting pleadings related thereto.
Eligibility
- 2–4 years of experience.
- Extensive knowledge of Contract, Commercial, and IPR laws.
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
- Expertise in research.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to brief external attorneys and counsels.
- Ability to interact effectively with large teams and senior management.
- Previous experience in media and entertainment will be an added advantage.
- Extensive exposure to courts and tribunals in India.
- Good knowledge of intellectual property laws, particularly Copyright and Trademark laws.
- Experience in handling money recovery matters, cheque bounce matters, and basic knowledge of litigation processes in Magistrate Courts.
