Mumbai Port has long been the principal gateway to India and has played a pivotal role in the development of the national economy, trade & commerce and prosperity of Mumbai city in particular. The port has achieved this position through continuous endeavor to serve the changing needs of maritime trade. Though traditionally designed to handle general cargo, over the years, the port has adapted to changing shipping trends and cargo packaging from break bulk to unitisation / palletisation and containerisation.

Details of the Job/Internship

Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA) invites applications for empanelment and engagement of Manager (Legal) purely on contract basis.

PERIOD OF CONTRACTUAL ENGAGEMENT:

• The Manager (Legal) will be engaged purely on contractual basis for a period of 3 years and extendable for more two years’ subject to annual performance review of the candidate after completion of each year of service and at the discretion of Mumbai Port Authority. This is only a contractual assignment and Mumbai Port Authority will not provide for regularization or permanency etc.

Role and Responsibilities

• Attending all types of suits filed by or against Mumbai Port Authority.
• Assisting / Interaction with Solicitors / Counsels / Advocates.
• Attend/monitor cases / litigations.
• Declaring affidavits, plaints/ petitions etc. 
• Filing of applications, notices, etc. 
• Giving / leading evidences / filing affidavit of evidence and give cross  examination on behalf of Mumbai Port Authority.
• Execute decrees.
• Visiting sites in connection with the cases.
• Any other related work required for the case.
• Assist and work under supervision of concerned Unit / Division.
• Any other job assigned by the Administration from time to time.

Eligibility

Educational Qualification: LLB.  

Experience: 

• 3 years of working experience in Law Firms as an Advocate or in any  PSU/ Government and commercial organization as Law Officer/  Executive. 
• Preference will be given to the candidates with higher education and  working experience in Land, Property and Civil side matters. 

Age Limit: Upper age limit is 35 years. (Age Relaxation for SC/ST: 5  years, and for OBC: 3 years, for application against reserved post).

The crucial date for determining eligibility criteria viz., educational  qualification, age etc. shall be as on 01.01.2025. 

 

Salary/Stipend

A consolidated remuneration of Rs.65000/- per month (including Rs.5000/- towards traveling allowance for attending courts) would be paid. There would be an annual increase of 5% of consolidated pay, subject to performance review every year. No other allowances or benefits would be admissible / paid. Applicable / statutory taxes will be deductible.
