Details of the Job/Internship

Parle Agro Pvt. Ltd. is hiring for the position of Legal Manager to join their office in Varanasi.

Role and Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Advisory

• Ensure compliance with plant-specific laws and regulations including:
  • Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, 1954
  • Standards of Weights & Measures Act
  • Food Safety and Standards Act
• Monitor, manage, and report monthly compliance status to Head Office.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities for licenses, inspections, and approvals (e.g., PF, ESIC, FSSAI, Weights & Measures, Drug Licensing, Police, MCD, Sales Tax, DHS, etc.).
• Provide legal advisory on service matters, regulatory and corporate issues.

Litigation & Dispute Management

• Manage all litigation for and against the company at various judicial and quasi-judicial forums including:
• High Courts, District Courts, Consumer Forums, Tribunals, and Commissions.
• Handle:
• Civil recovery suits under Order XXXVII CPC
• Execution of decrees and interim orders under Section 9 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996
• Criminal matters, consumer cases, and debt recovery proceedings.
• Coordinate with external counsels and ensure timely filings and responses.

Contract Management & Legal Drafting

• Draft, vet, and review various legal documents including:
• Lease agreements, contracts, licenses, MOUs, notices, replies, affidavits, written statements, rejoinders, petitions, powers of attorney, and applications.
• Provide legal opinions and assist internal teams with negotiations and document finalization.

Trademark & IP Protection

• Handle trademark-related disputes, infringements, and IP compliance under relevant legislation.

Liaison & Coordination

• Act as the regional legal point of contact with the Head Office for case monitoring, updates, and standardization of procedures.
• Maintain effective coordination with advocates, government departments, and internal stakeholders for seamless legal operations.

Representation & Briefing

• Prepare case briefs, represent the company before various authorities and forums, and coordinate legal strategy with external counsel.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B); Master’s degree (LL.M) preferred.
• 5–10 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in manufacturing or FMCG.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory laws applicable to plant operations.
• Proficiency in litigation management, contract law, labor law, and IP law.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to independently manage complex legal matters and coordinate across teams.

Salary/Stipend
