Details of the Job/Internship

PhonePe is hiring a Manager – Legal with 7–10 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) to join their in-house legal team in Bangalore.

Role and Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of agreements, including commercial procurement contracts, SaaS, and technology licensing.
• Manage Master Service Agreements (MSAs), NDAs, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and partner/consulting contracts.
• Customize standard templates and develop negotiation playbooks tailored to the company's risk appetite.
• Partner with cross-functional teams (Procurement, Finance, Product, and InfoSec) to align contracting needs with strategic business goals.
• Ensure all contracts remain compliant with the Indian Contract Act, the IT Act, and emerging Data Protection laws (e.g., DPDPA).
• Develop and update legal SOPs, internal legal trackers, and contract repositories.
• Drive awareness of compliance policies through internal training and contribute to contract lifecycle automation initiatives.

Eligibility

• LLB or LLM degree from a recognized Indian university.
• 7–10 years of total post-qualification experience (PQE), with at least 7 years in corporate legal practice.
• Strong focus on commercial contracts and procurement; experience in a top-tier law firm is highly preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of Indian IT regulatory frameworks and contract law.
• Advanced drafting, redlining, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently with a problem-solving, business-enabling mindset.
• Familiarity with the upcoming Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA) and vendor legal due diligence is a "nice to have."
