Details of the Job/Internship

Ring is hiring a Legal Manager with experience of 5+ years to join their office in Mumbai.

Role and Responsibilities

Legal Due Diligence

• Conduct thorough legal due diligence of property documents for Loan Against Property (LAP) proposals.
• Ensure the title, ownership, and encumbrance of the property are clear and marketable.
• Liaise with external lawyers for title verification and opinions.

Document Vetting

• Draft, review, and finalize loan documentation, including mortgage agreements, sanction letters, and other collateral agreements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and organizational policies.

Compliance and Advisory

• Provide legal advice to internal teams on matters related to property laws, mortgages, and financial services regulations.
• Ensure adherence to RBI and other regulatory guidelines in LAP operations.

Coordination with Stakeholders

• Work closely with the Credit, Ops, and Sales teams to resolve legal queries related to loan processing.
• Interact with external legal consultants and law firms for opinions and dispute resolutions.

Title Investigation

• Handle legal scrutiny of property-related issues, including title disputes, pending litigation, or encumbrance concerns.
• Ensure all property-related risks are mitigated before disbursement.

Risk Management

• Identify potential legal risks in loan portfolios and provide solutions to minimize liabilities.
• Monitor compliance with local property laws and regulations.

Reporting and Documentation

• Maintain records of legal opinions, due diligence reports, and case histories for reference and audits.
• Prepare periodic reports for management on legal compliance, risk mitigation, and dispute resolutions.

Eligibility

• LLB/LLM from a reputed university or institution.
• 5+ years in legal roles, with specific experience in Loan Against Property or similar secured lending functions.
• Experience in handling title verification and property-related documentation.
• Strong knowledge of property laws, transfer of property, and mortgage laws in India.
• Excellent drafting, vetting, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines effectively.
• Analytical mindset to assess and mitigate legal risks.
• Minimize legal risks in LAP disbursements.
