Details of the Job/Internship

Setu is hiring for the position of Legal Manager with 5-8 years of experience to join their office in Bengaluru. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Contract Management
• Draft, review, and simplify contract templates to protect business interests while maintaining clarity.
• Support business and operations teams with contract negotiations and timely closures.
• Ensure proper contract execution tracking for business performance evaluation.
• Regulatory Compliance & Advisory
• Conduct regulatory reviews for new products and features.
• Advise product and business teams on ongoing regulatory compliance and permissible use cases.
• Interpret and apply RBI guidelines, NPCI circulars, and sector-specific frameworks—particularly payments and account aggregators.
• Handle regulatory compliance and reporting for Setu’s licensed Account Aggregator entity.
• Stay updated on anti-money laundering (AML) laws, KYC norms, and data protection regulations.
• Product & Data Privacy Counsel
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and design teams to embed compliance and user protection into product development.
• Establish data-sharing frameworks aligned with India’s data protection laws, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
• Audit, Secretarial, and Coordination
• Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure regulatory filings and declarations are timely and accurate.
• Liaise with the Pine Labs Company Secretary (CoSec) team to maintain secretarial compliance for Setu entities.
• Serve as the point of contact for external regulators and compliance inquiries.
• Policy Engagement
• Participate in policy dialogues through industry associations.
• Draft and submit comments on proposed regulations affecting fintech and data governance.

Eligibility

• Law degree from a recognized Indian university (or successful completion of the Indian qualifying exam for foreign degrees).
• 5 to 8 years of experience in a fintech, regulated financial institution, or law firm focusing on financial regulation or technology law.
