Sunstone is hiring a Legal Manager to join their office in Gurugram.
Role and Responsibilities
- Legal Compliance
- Ensure the organization’s compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Review, interpret, and advise on laws, rulings, and regulations affecting the organization’s operations.
- Conduct audits and implement corrective measures to mitigate compliance risks.
- Contract Management
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements to protect the organization’s interests.
- Standardize contract templates and ensure consistency across all legal documentation.
- Oversee the management of the contract lifecycle, from creation to execution and renewal.
- Risk Management
- Identify potential legal risks and provide strategies to mitigate them.
- Advise senior management on legal matters, ensuring risk exposure is minimized.
- Implement risk management frameworks and oversee their adherence.
- Litigation and Dispute Resolution
- Manage all litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution matters involving the company.
- Oversee external legal counsel where necessary and ensure that litigation strategies align with company goals.
- Maintain records of legal proceedings and settlements.
- Corporate Governance
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance frameworks.
- Advise the board of directors on governance-related legal matters, ensuring the organization adheres to best practices.
- Oversee the preparation of legal documents for board meetings, shareholder meetings, and other governance-related activities.
- Team Leadership and Development
- Build, mentor, and lead a competent legal team, ensuring high performance.
- Conduct training programs for staff on legal and compliance matters.
- Manage the legal department’s budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Policy Development and Implementation
- Draft, review, and update company policies to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations and ensure policies are updated accordingly.
- Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure policy implementation.
- Stakeholder Management
- Act as the main point of contact for all legal matters with internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain strong relationships with regulators, external counsel, and other legal entities.
- Provide legal support in mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
- Intellectual Property Management
- Oversee the protection of intellectual property, including trademarks, patents, copyrights, etc.
- Manage IP filings and disputes.
- Ensure the company’s IP strategy aligns with business objectives.
- Strategic Planning and Advisory
- Collaborate with senior management on strategic initiatives from a legal perspective.
- Advise on market expansion, mergers and acquisitions, and other growth strategies.
- Align legal strategies with overall business goals.
