Details of the Job/Internship
utu is hiring a Legal Manager with 5 years of post-qualification experience to spearhead its in-house Legal Counsel needs. The role involves reading and drafting contracts, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, assisting in fundraising activities, and coordinating with counterpart legal counsels.
Role and Responsibilities
- Advise, draft, and negotiate a wide range of contracts including commercial, service, marketing, joint venture agreements, and NDAs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Protect utu’s intellectual property.
- Provide legal support for fundraising and M&A activities.
- Advise on regulatory matters including employment, data protection, and payment services laws.
- Conduct research on various legal and regulatory issues.
- Provide legal advice for the company’s operations in multiple jurisdictions.
- Liaise with external counsel as needed.
Eligibility
- Law degree required (LLB/JD or equivalent).
- Called to any Commonwealth country’s Bar.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a lawyer or in-house counsel.
- Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
- Strong problem-solving, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment.
- Prior experience in commercial law or the technology sector preferred.
- Proven international experience.
