Details of the Job/Internship
South Indian Bank is hiring Legal Officers in two key roles: Legal Officer - General and Legal Officer - Recovery. The positions are open for qualified individuals to work across any of the bank’s locations in India.
Role and Responsibilities
Legal Officer - General:
- In-depth knowledge of Mortgage, Pledge, Hypothecation, Lien, and Security Perfection.
- Expertise in Labour Laws/Code, Industrial Disputes Act, PF laws, ESI regulations, Gratuity Laws, etc.
- Experience in clearing titles for mortgage-backed loans.
- Drafting, vetting, and preparation of new product documentation for Corporate, Retail, MSME, and Agri sectors.
- Liaison with external counsels engaged in title clearances for mortgage-backed loans.
- Knowledge in funded and non-funded documentation and trade-related documentation.
- Provide general legal advisory to internal clients.
- Conduct internal training and learning & development (L&D) for stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively in teams.
Legal Officer - Recovery:
- Knowledge of Mortgage, Pledge, Hypothecation, Lien, and Charge.
- Expertise in recovery-related laws such as DRT Act, SARFAESI Act, IBC, Arbitration and Conciliation laws, and the Negotiable Instruments Act.
- Follow-up with delinquent clients for early recovery through legal means, including asset sales and negotiated settlements.
- Draft and vet notices/replies relating to SARFAESI and other legal notices.
- Liaise with counsels involved in recovery-related litigation across various courts and tribunals.
- Coordinate and manage cases efficiently.
- Liaison with other stakeholder departments.
- Provide training and L&D to internal stakeholders.
Eligibility
- Work Experience: A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in scheduled banks, NBFCs, other financial institutions, or reputed law firms.
- Educational Qualification: LLB (Bachelor of Laws) under a regular course from a recognized university with at least 60% marks.
- Probation Period: 1 Year.
