Details of the Job/Internship
Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement is hiring a Legal Officer with a specialization in Maritime Law to join their Mumbai office.
Role and Responsibilities
- Provide legal advisory on maritime laws and international regulations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate maritime contracts and insurance agreements.
- Assist in resolving disputes, mediations, arbitrations, and legal proceedings.
- Monitor regulatory compliance related to safety, environment, and operations.
- Support the development of internal policies for maritime risk management.
- Conduct legal research on industry trends and emerging regulations.
- Deliver training on legal and compliance matters.
- Liaise with government and regulatory authorities on maritime issues.
- Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or higher, with specialization in Maritime Law.
- Licensed to practice law; familiarity with English Law preferred.
- Prior experience in maritime law or shipping is desirable.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of maritime safety, operations, and environmental regulations.
