Details of the Job/Internship

GatewayFM is looking for a diligent and knowledgeable Legal & Compliance Officer to ensure their organization operates in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Role and Responsibilities

• Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
• Develop, implement, and update compliance policies, procedures, and practices.
• Conduct compliance risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
• Provide legal advice on contract matters and ensure contractual compliance.
• Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations affecting the organization.
• Interface with regulatory agencies and manage regulatory inquiries or audits.
• Develop and promote ethical standards and practices within the organization.
• Ensure adherence to corporate governance principles and best practices.
• Conduct compliance training sessions for employees and management.
• Raise awareness about compliance requirements and ethical standards.
• Lead or assist in internal investigations related to compliance issues or legal matters.
• Implement corrective actions and remediation plans as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to legal and compliance activities.
• Prepare compliance reports and presentations for management and regulatory bodies.
• Identify and assess legal and compliance risks to the organization.
• Develop risk management strategies and controls to mitigate risks.

Eligibility

• Bachelor's degree in law, Business Administration, or related field; Juris Doctor (JD) preferred.
• Proven experience (5+ years) in legal and compliance roles, preferably in a regulated industry.
• Strong knowledge of laws, regulations, and compliance standards relevant to the organization's industry.
• Experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and review.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
• Certification in Compliance or Risk Management (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional - CCEP) is a plus.
