Details of the Job/Internship
SRM University, AP is hiring a Legal Officer with a minimum of 6 years of experience to join its office in Mangalagiri. The role involves providing expert legal counsel, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, managing litigation, drafting and reviewing legal documents, advising on policy development, and safeguarding the University’s legal interests. The position requires close coordination with the Head Legal at Head Office, external advisors, and internal committees.
Role and Responsibilities
- Provide timely and accurate legal advice to the VC, Registrar, Deans, and Directors, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Draft, review, and vet legal documents, including MoUs and standard agreements with external parties.
- Coordinate with external legal advisors and standing counsels on court matters, prepare responses to grievances, and attend court when necessary.
- Monitor and manage internal legal processes, update policies, and assist in formulating new ones.
- Serve as member secretary for committees such as the Committee Against Sexual Harassment and handle internal disputes from a legal perspective.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law (LLB or LLM) from a recognized institution with Bar Council of India registration.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience as an advocate or in the legal department of an organization, preferably in the education sector.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and drafting skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- Knowledge of Telugu is mandatory.
