Details of the Job/Internship

LawCite Advocates is hiring a Legal Representative – Shipping & Maritime Law with experience of 2–5 years to join their office in Mumbai. The role involves legal advisory, drafting, and representing clients in the shipping, logistics, and trade sectors before courts, tribunals, and arbitration forums.

Role and Responsibilities

• Handle cargo damage, short landing, and non-delivery claims.
• Manage the arrest and release of vessels under Admiralty Law.
• Resolve charterparty disputes and breach of contract issues.
• Enforce maritime liens and claims.
• Deal with jurisdictional objections and anti-suit injunctions.
• Address misdelivery and forged Bill of Lading issues.
• Resolve delivery order disputes and other documentation discrepancies.
• Handle detention and demurrage claims, and port clearance and Customs disputes.
• Respond to adjudication proceedings by Customs, DRI, and SEZ Authorities.
• Draft writs, suits, replies, affidavits, and legal notices.
• Coordinate with port officials, Customs agents, and surveyors.
• Advise on pre-litigation strategy and document preservation.
• Support arbitration under SIAC, ICA, and ad hoc mechanisms.
• Assist with execution of foreign arbitral awards in India.

Eligibility

• LL.B. degree from a recognized university.
• Enrolled with the Bar Council and qualified to appear before High Courts in India.
• 2–5 years of practical litigation experience specifically in Shipping & Maritime Law.
• Excellent drafting, research, and argument skills.
• Strong understanding of commercial shipping operations and procedural law.

Salary/Stipend
