A newly launched vertical of CGBMT, It's Not A Compliment India is an Indian-based grassroots movement, fighting for the rights of ALL individuals to enjoy public spaces free of the fear of harassment. They believe in a society where street harassment is recognized as harmful on its own, not just as a step towards more violence. They will actively work towards creating a society where all individuals know what street harassment looks like, how to call it out, and how to safely intervene to stop or prevent it.

Details of the Job/Internship

It's Not A Compliment India is hiring a Legal Research Intern to join them. The internship will be held Online.

Role and Responsibilities

• Researching relevant laws and precedents pertaining to intersectionality in street harassment (sexism, casteism, communalism, abelism, transphobia, queerphobia, abelism, and other forms of discrimination in public spaces),
• Developing a minimum of one legal resource toolkit and providing support to our legal advisor in drafting legal documents if required.

Eligibility

• Currently enrolled in (4th or 5th year) or recently graduated from a law program or a related field
• Demonstrated interest in human rights for all, and/or feminism
• Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present research and analysis in a clear and concise manner
• Experience with data analysis and visualization is a plus
• Experience with advocacy, community organizing, and working with NGOs is a plus
