Details of the Job/Internship
The Great Eastern Shipping Co. Ltd is hiring a Legal Specialist with experience of 10+ years to join their office in Mumbai.
Role and Responsibilities
Legal Research & Documentation:
- Conduct thorough legal research to support case preparations and legal advice.
- Draft, review, and amend contracts, agreements, and legal documents, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Assist in preparing case files and documentation for court or other legal proceedings.
- Preparing cases for opinions with related documentation.
Advisory:
- Providing legal and commercially viable solutions and knowledge and support to all departments.
- Assess legal risk and exposure of the company whenever opinion is sought by any department.
- Making all functions aware of various applicable Statutory Laws and Compliances by monitoring changes in relevant legislation and updating the teams on new legal developments.
Drafting and Vetting:
- Drafting and reviewing all types of contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
- Coordination with internal departments in the drafting and timely closure of contracts and other legally binding agreements.
- Updating, monitoring, and reporting the overall status of contracts.
- Provide general legal administrative support, including maintaining legal databases, filing, and preparing reports for senior management.
Dispute Resolution:
- Assist in resolving legal disputes, including liaising with external legal advisors when necessary.
- Support litigation efforts by preparing documents for court proceedings, arbitration, or mediation.
Eligibility
- Degree in Law (LLB/LLM)
- 10+ years of relevant experience in Corporate Legal work.
- Excellent written and great communications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Prior experience of customs-related work with ability to deal with customs authorities will be preferred.
