Details of the Job/Internship
Birla Opus is looking for a candidate for the position of Legal Manager with 10 to 12 years of experience to join their office in Mumbai.
Role and Responsibilities
- The candidate should be adept in strategizing, filing, and managing all kinds of Civil, Criminal and Police related matters relating to commercial litigations, consumer matters, IPR, Counterfeits, Labour / Employment (Minimum Wages Act, Payment of Wages Act and CLRA, BOCW), Factories Act, Environment, Negotiable instruments, Bank guarantees, Overdue accounts, Company litigations, Criminal defamation.
- Should have extensive experience in handling disputes and cases before civil & criminal courts, high court, NCLT, Lower Courts / Tribunals / Forums, including attending hearings / coordinating / briefing Advocates & Counsel.
- The candidate should have demonstrated exposure in drafting crisp and to the point plaints, writ petitions, responding to show cause notices, written statements, appeal memo, claims, counter claims, Bank Guarantee, Explanation Letters, Show Cause Notices, Termination Letters, Recovery Notices.
- Prepare Synopsis of Cases, Case Briefs etc. for Sr Lawyers, conduct Legal Research for relevant Case Laws, Judgments etc., providing legal advice to the management and other stake holders.
- Good exposure of properties due diligence to identify whether its title is valid and clear, suggest ways to mitigate business risk in unclear title, drafting lease deed/ leave and license agreement or any other transaction document, assistance in stamping, execution, and registration, verifying compliance list, declarations from lessors/licensors for warehouses, sales offices, etc.
- Working knowledge of reviewing / advising on property documents- revenue maps, jamabandi / saat barah, ownership docs, encumbrances, liaison with local officials, etc. Drafting, negotiating, and concluding contracts with supply chain service providers including 3PL partners, transporters and C&FAs.
- Supporting business teams on drafting, vetting, negotiation and finalizing contracts such as Clients/Vendors/ Suppliers, Master Services Agreements , Data Privacy Agreements, Software Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreement, Statement of Work, Renewals, Extensions, Addendums, Work Orders, Schedules, Amendments, and other agreements, LOI, MOU, NDA, work & purchase orders, sales and purchase contracts, marketing contracts, legal notices, IT/Software/IP contracts, agency agreements, standard GTCs, etc.
Eligibility
Educational Qualification: LL.B. from reputable institute.
PQE Experience: 10-12 yrs PQE, candidates from law firms only.
Language skills: Excellent English writing, articulation skills.
Position: Mumbai, Paints business HQ.
Reporting: This role reports to the TL- Litigations and works closely with a team of legal counsels based out of HQ in Mumbai.
Salary/Stipend
