Details of the Job/Internship

Metalegal Advocates is hiring a Litigation Associate with experience of 5–6 years to join their office in Mumbai. The role involves managing and executing litigation matters across various courts and tribunals, with a focus on high-stakes commercial and regulatory disputes, tax litigation, criminal matters, and insolvency proceedings.

Role and Responsibilities

• Represent clients before the Bombay High Court, NCLT, Sessions Courts, Magistrate Courts, and other forums. Argue matters independently and assist senior counsel in complex litigation.
• Draft and review writ petitions, civil and criminal appeals, applications, affidavits, and legal notices. Prepare legal opinions and client advisories.
• Conduct legal research and case law analysis. Prepare legal notes, briefs, and strategy documents.
• Manage the entire litigation lifecycle including preparation, filings, hearing coordination, and liaison with court staff.
• Handle e-filings, monitor case listings, and utilize legal databases for litigation workflows.
• Lead and mentor junior associates. Foster a collaborative and development-focused team environment.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.).
• 5–6 years of active litigation experience in Mumbai.
• Must be enrolled with the Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa.
• Strong command over English; proficiency in Marathi is an added advantage.
• Strong command over Criminal Law, Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code, Companies Act, and Tax Laws.
• Exceptional legal drafting and research capabilities.

Salary/Stipend
