Details of the Job/Internship

DMart - Avenue Supermarts Ltd is hiring a Litigation Lead with 10-15 years of experience to join their office in Thane. 

Role and Responsibilities

Litigation Management

• Oversee and manage all litigation and dispute matters involving the company, ensuring strategic handling of cases to protect business interests.
• Represent the company in legal proceedings, hearings, and briefings.
• Appoint and manage external legal counsel, evaluating performance and case strategy.
• Draft and review responses to legal notices in coordination with external advocates/solicitors.
• Ensure timely filing and effective follow-up on legal proceedings.

Legal Strategy & Advisory

• Provide expert legal opinions and options to the senior management on ongoing and potential litigation.
• Monitor legal developments, regulatory changes, and judicial pronouncements; assess their impact on the business and advise corrective measures.
• Negotiate and facilitate out-of-court settlements to minimize risk, time, and costs.

Real Estate Legal Oversight

• Conduct legal due diligence for property/land acquisition, title verification, and documentation.
• Guide on legal aspects of land transactions, lease agreements, and development contracts.
• Liaise with government bodies and ensure compliance with all applicable property laws and regulations.

Internal Coordination & Governance

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (technical, finance, operations) to prepare and present case-related material.
• Prepare legal documentation, complaints, notices, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate legal records, case databases, and reporting mechanisms.

Team & Budget Management

• Lead and mentor the internal legal team, ensuring capability building and timely delivery.
• Negotiate legal retainers and fee arrangements with external law firms and manage the legal department’s budget effectively.

Eligibility

• LLB/LLM with a strong litigation background.
• 10–15 years of experience in handling legal matters in the real estate/construction sector.
• Proven track record of handling complex property disputes and high-stakes litigation.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead a legal function with strategic focus.

Salary/Stipend
