Details of the Job/Internship

PhonePe is hiring a Manager – Legal (Contracts & Advisory) with 6–10 years of relevant experience to join its office in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Role and Responsibilities

• Standardise contract templates with defined negotiable and non-negotiable clauses based on risk and contract type.
• Enhance drafting and review processes for contracts covering payments, technology, merchants, and specific products/services such as e-commerce and Appstore.
• Lead negotiations and contractual closures independently.
• Develop commercial understanding of product lines for risk assessment and regulatory compliance.
• Advise management on optimising the contracting process with tools like stamping, e-signatures, and repository access.
• Evaluate multiple business and legal risks, recommend proactive solutions, and mitigate potential issues.
• Communicate with counterparties and external counsel for contract finalisation.
• Establish robust systems for contract monitoring, renewals, and compliance tracking.
• Deploy technology-based solutions to enhance quality, efficiency, and accuracy in contracting.
• Keep updated on legislative amendments and revise contract formats as needed.

Eligibility

• LL.B. required; LLM preferred but not mandatory.
• 6–10 years of post-qualification experience.
• Strong drafting and communication skills.
• Exposure to a wide range of contracts, including IT/software development, licensing, real estate, vendor, supplier, employment, and service contracts.
• Good knowledge of corporate, employment, and business laws, as well as data privacy practices.
• Regulatory compliance and litigation exposure preferred.
