Details of the Job/Internship
LawCite Advocates is hiring a Maritime Lawyer specializing in Shipping and Commercial Laws to join their Mumbai office full-time.
Role and Responsibilities
- Draft and reply to statutory notices, prepare case briefs, and support litigation and arbitration.
- Handle shipping disputes including charterparties, detention, demurrage, cargo claims, documentation errors, and related contractual issues.
- Manage end-to-end shipping documentation such as bills of lading, manifests, delivery orders, and port clearances.
- Coordinate with client cross-functional teams and Senior Advocates within LawCite Advocates.
- Manage documentation and assist in representations before relevant courts and authorities.
- Travel outside Mumbai if required, facilitated and reimbursed by the client.
Eligibility
- Enrolled with the Bar Council of India.
- 2–3 years of experience in active legal practice or in-house legal work within logistics or shipping companies.
- Mandatory exposure to Shipping and Maritime Law.
- Prior appearances before Customs, DRI, CESTAT, High Courts, Supreme Court, NCLT, and other appellate or adjudicating authorities.
