Details of the Job/Internship
They are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Paralegal with 3-5 years of experience to support their legal team. The ideal candidate will assist in drafting and reviewing contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards, and performing Know Your Customer (KYC) tasks. Additionally, the role involves managing legal documentation and providing support for off-plan real estate sales. This position offers an opportunity to work closely and under direct supervision with the General Counsel and contribute to the organization’s legal and compliance framework.
Role and Responsibilities
Contract Management:
- Under the supervision of the General Counsel, draft, review, and negotiate various types of commercial contracts, including NDAs, service agreements, and real estate-related contracts.
- Creating standard templates of contracts and providing general support to business units
- Provide recommendations for amendments and ensure contracts align with organizational and legal standards.
Compliance and KYC:
- Conduct KYC processes to verify the identity of clients and stakeholders in compliance with regulatory requirements, as well as AML checks and screening, and support in performing Enhanced Due Diligence.
- Ensure risk mitigation through proactive management of compliance processes and ensuring the update to compliance policies and processes.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Assist in audits and regulatory reporting as required.
- Support the General Counsel with the agenda for strengthening the ethics and compliance initiatives organization wide including arranging regular internal training.
Real Estate Legal Support:
- Support the General Counsel with creating new SPAs and all other related agreements for off plan sales and project development
- Providing support to the General Counsel and business units in ensuring commercial terms are accurately reflected in agreements and provide regulatory and commercial guidance to teams in connection with project development and launches
- Carry out legal research and ensure compliance with regulatory compliance
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and solidify relationships.
General Legal Support:
- Assist in conducting legal research, legal opinions and provide analysis and reports for internal stakeholders.
- Maintain and organize legal documents and ensure their accessibility.
- Support the General Counsel with managing litigation cases and coordination with external law firms.
- Ensure that policies are being implemented and periodically reviewed and updated.
- Relationship building with the business units.
Administrative Support:
- Support the General Counsel in handling day-to-day legal matters and all project-related matters.
- Manage correspondence with external legal counsel, regulatory bodies, and other relevant parties.
Eligibility
- Education - Bachelor’s degree in Law from a common law jurisdiction.
- 3-5 years of experience in the UAE as a paralegal, preferably in the real estate sector, compliance exposure, corporate commercial law experience, or reputed law firm experience.
- Knowledge of UAE laws and regulations.
- Ability to navigate complex legal agreements and willingness to learn
- Excellent drafting and writing skills in English.
- Familiarity with compliance, AML requirements and KYC processes.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong analytical nature to highlight critical legal and commercial issues.
- Ability to work independently.
- Well-organized and able to work on several matters simultaneously.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
