Details of the Job/Internship
Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP is looking for a candidate for the position of Paralegal to join them at their office in London.
Role and Responsibilities
- Assisting in preparing the team’s quarterly market watch list, including drafting corporate and capital structures, and proofreading draft entries.
- Keeping up to date with daily market developments and flagging to team / analysing breaking market situations.
- Assisting associates with preparing “deep dive” reviews / presentations on stressed / distressed companies.
- Providing general support for BD (internal and external marketing) / knowledge management initiatives plus pitches.
- Assisting the team in any other ad hoc tasks.
- Monitor group and personal emails for work requests.
- Prioritize work to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Prepare for and attend departmental meetings and training sessions.
- Review documents/agreements – proofread, review defined terms and cross-references.
- Research using external subscription services (PLC, Westlaw, LexisNexis).
- Maintaining / updating closing checklists and providing ongoing status updates.
- Conforming execution versions of documents.
- Creating document closing “bibles”.
- General administration tasks and other ad hoc duties as required.
Eligibility
- Educated to at least a bachelor’s degree level in law (or equivalent)
- I.T. literate with a good knowledge of and competency in the use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe PDF, Filesite and iManage
- Previous paralegal experience working in a professional services environment preferred
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail essential
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with partners, clients and staff at all levels
- Motivated self-starter who is a good team player and able to use their initiative
- Flexibility – overtime will be required from time to time at short notice, to meet the needs of the client.
Salary/Stipend
