Details of the Job/Internship
Brainiac IP Solutions is hiring for the position of Patent Paralegal Officer with 6 months to 1 year of experience to join their office in Pune.
Role and Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end filing of Patent and Design applications (Provisional, Complete, Divisional, Conventional, and PCT National Phase).
- Prepare and submit responses to FERs (First Examination Reports), attend to hearing responses, and monitor patent renewals.
- Maintain and update the docketing system to track patent and design-related deadlines on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Handle design applications, including filing, responding to FERs, and reviewing client-submitted documents.
- File all required statutory forms (Form 1, 3, 5, 18, 18A, 25, 26, 27, etc.) with appropriate IP offices.
- Coordinate with WIPO for PCT applications, GPOA submissions, DAS code generation, and filings.
- File DAS codes, certified copies, and assignments with IPO; ensure accurate document handling.
- Liaise with foreign associates to prepare patent filings in other jurisdictions and manage related quotes and data.
- Monitor and maintain the patent portfolio for clients, manage renewals, working statements, and reporting (e.g., publication notices, ISR from WIPO).
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of NBA approvals and other relevant requests.
- Communicate directly with clients regarding deadlines or urgent filings in the absence of team members.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure work does not overlap and that filings are thoroughly reviewed before submission.
Eligibility
- Knowledge of Patent Law, patent application procedures, and prosecution processes.
- Experience in legal documentation, particularly in patent filings and compliance.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and familiarity with legal filing systems.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Paralegal Studies, IP Law, or a related field.
- 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience in IP or legal domain.
