Details of the Job/Internship

Aumirah is seeking a talented Patent Paralegal to join our team and play a vital role in protecting our clients' innovations. In this role, you'll assist in the entire patent lifecycle, from application preparation to prosecution, ensuring our clients' intellectual property rights are secured in India.

Role and Responsibilities

• Drafting patent applications related to biotechnology innovations, including but not limited to, pharmaceutical compositions, bioprocesses, genetic engineering technologies, and diagnostic methods.
• Collaborating with inventors, scientists, and attorneys to understand the technical aspects of inventions and translate them into patent applications.
• Conducting prior art searches to assess the patentability of inventions and identify potential obstacles.
• Reviewing and analyzing technical documents, research papers, and laboratory notebooks to extract relevant information for patent drafting.
• Assisting in the preparation of responses to office actions and correspondence with patent offices during prosecution.
• Maintaining accurate records of patent-related activities and deadlines.
• Keeping abreast of changes in patent laws and regulations relevant to biotechnology.
• Supporting the intellectual property strategy of the company through proactive identification of patentable inventions and contributions to invention disclosure processes.

Eligibility

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, computational biology, Bioinformatics or related field.
• 2-4 years of experience as a Patent Drafter in the biotechnology industry, preferably in a pharmaceutical or biotech company or a law firm specializing in intellectual property.
• Strong understanding of patent laws and regulations, particularly in India, and familiarity with international patent systems.
• Proficiency in drafting patent applications, including claims, specifications, and drawings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• 8. Experience with patent drafting software and databases is preferred.
