Details of the Job/Internship

Unimarks Legal is hiring for the position of Principal Associate – Intellectual Property Rights with 5+ years of experience to join their office in Chennai.

Role and Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end IP matters including trademarks, patents, copyrights, and designs.
• Advise clients on IP strategy, protection, enforcement, licensing, and commercialization.
• Draft, file, and prosecute IP applications (national and international), including oppositions, assignments, and licensing agreements.
• Represent clients in IPR litigation, including appearances before the IPO, IPAB, and various courts.
• Conduct IP due diligence, freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses, and infringement assessments.
• Collaborate with external counsels, regulatory authorities, and international partners for cross-border IP matters.
• Lead, train, and mentor junior associates and interns, ensuring high-quality deliverables and continuous knowledge sharing.
• Keep abreast of emerging legal trends, regulatory updates, and landmark judgments in the IPR domain.

Eligibility

• LL.B or LL.M from a recognized university.
• Registered Patent Agent (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in IP law, ideally in a reputed law firm or corporate legal department.
• Strong expertise in legal drafting, research, and analytical reasoning.
• Excellent communication, client management, and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated success in managing complex IPR portfolios and high-stakes litigation.

Salary/Stipend
