Details of the Job/Internship
Unimarks Legal is hiring for the position of Principal Associate – Intellectual Property Rights with 5+ years of experience to join their office in Chennai.
Role and Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end IPR matters across patents, trademarks, copyrights, and designs.
- Advise clients on IP strategy, protection, enforcement, and commercialization.
- Draft, review, and file IP applications (national & international), oppositions, assignments, and licensing agreements.
- Represent clients in IPR litigation and enforcement, including appearances before IPO, IPAB, and courts.
- Conduct IP due diligence, freedom-to-operate (FTO) assessments, and infringement analysis.
- Collaborate with external counsel, authorities, and international associates on cross-border IP matters.
- Lead and mentor junior lawyers and interns, ensuring knowledge-sharing and high-quality deliverables.
- Stay updated on emerging trends, legal developments, and case laws in IPR.
Eligibility
- LL.B / LL.M in Law; Registered Patent Agent preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in IP law (law firm or in-house).
- Strong skills in legal drafting, analysis, and research.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client-management capabilities.
- Demonstrated track record of managing complex IP portfolios and high-stakes litigation.
