Surana & Surana International Attorneys India is hiring a Principal Associate – Patents Practice with 5–7 years of experience to join their office in Chennai.
Role and Responsibilities
- Conduct prior art searches and draft strategic IP opinions (patentability, FTO, invalidity).
- Develop tailored patent and design strategies for diverse clients.
- Draft and prosecute Indian and international patent/design applications.
- Respond to FERs/SERs, attend IPO hearings, and coordinate with foreign attorneys.
- Manage oppositions, evidence filings, and maintain robust IP portfolios.
Eligibility
- Registered Patent Agent with 5–7 years PQE.
- Strong command of Indian and international IP laws (WIPO, USPTO, etc.).
- Proficiency in e-filing, patent databases, and IP management tools.
- Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics/Communication Engineering.
- A law degree is a plus.
- Prior law firm or industry experience is essential.
