Details of the Job/Internship

Angel One Limited is looking for a candidate for the position of Principal Legal Counsel - Disputes with experience of 6 to 10 years.

Role and Responsibilities

• Independently managing and strategizing litigation and disputes, particularly securities litigation before SEBI, Stock Exchanges, the Securities Appellate Tribunal, High Court(s) and the Supreme Court of India.
• Corresponding and dealing with various regulatory and law enforcement authorities and agencies with the objective of successful closure of matters and ensuring maximum compliance.
• Internal co-ordination with various teams and stakeholders to reply to notices.
• Provide timely legal advice to management and internal stakeholders on litigation matters and relevant legal developments.
• Drafting notices; replies, depositions, pleadings, etc.
• Build a strong network of pan-India external lawyers and stakeholders for litigation, notice and complaint management.
• Working proactively with the team to create a strong litigation prevention and dispute resolution function; work with the team in training the organization and developing preventive disputes management strategies.

Eligibility

• LL.B. from an accredited law school
• 6-10 years of experience in litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution particularly
• securities litigation before SEBI and SAT
• Mumbai based candidates are preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
• Strong functional knowledge in civil and criminal procedural laws, Securities laws and regulations and RBI regulations
• Excellent legal research and drafting skills.
• Ability to take on challenges independently aligning with the team’s objectives; comfortable working under pressure and with a sense of urgency.
• Business and resolution focused with cost and time consciousness.
• Comfortable in environments such as subordinate judiciary, police stations, regulators, enforcement agencies, etc. and ability to provide prompt and timely on ground legal support and advisory.
• Digitization and legal tech user and enthusiast; comfortable working with online workspace collaboration tools.
• Proactive problem solver with demonstrated ability to create defensive strategies.
• Practices and promotes a law and compliance first attitude.
