Details of the Job/Internship

Chargebee is hiring a Privacy Counsel with 4+ years of experience in privacy, data protection, or compliance operations to join their office in Chennai.

Role and Responsibilities

• Develop and implement privacy initiatives across the organization.
• Create, maintain, and update RoPAs, data maps, and data inventories.
• Conduct DPIAs, PIAs, and vendor privacy reviews.
• Manage privacy-related requests, including DSARs and incident response actions.
• Operationalize privacy-by-design practices and monitor compliance in products and projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support privacy compliance.
• Develop privacy documentation and continuously improve policies, procedures, and training materials.
• Monitor regulatory developments and operationalize new requirements.
• Prepare reports and metrics related to privacy program performance.
• Advise on privacy implications of AI, ML, and automated decision-making systems.

Eligibility

• 4+ years of experience in privacy, data protection, compliance operations, or related fields.
• LLB/BL or JD law degree.
• Working knowledge of global privacy laws and frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA).
• General understanding of cloud infrastructure, integrations, APIs, SaaS product architecture, and AI.
• Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Collaborative mindset with a process-driven approach to compliance workflows.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic, evolving regulatory environment.
• Preferred: CIPP or similar privacy certification; experience with privacy training and tools like OneTrust, TrustArc, Transcend.
