As a global entity handling massive amounts of data across various jurisdictions, the company places a high priority on data privacy, security, and international regulatory compliance.
Details of the Job/Internship
Route Mobile Limited is hiring a Privacy Lawyer with experience of 3+ years to join their office in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
Role and Responsibilities
- Advise business teams on data protection standards, consent mechanisms, and appropriate disclosures.
- Develop, review, and negotiate data sharing, transfer, and processing agreements.
- Maintain the global privacy program, including the development of policies, standards, and SOPs.
- Deliver privacy training to employees and audit the effectiveness of internal and third-party compliance.
- Prepare data flows and materials for Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
- Collaborate with Engineering teams to incorporate "Privacy by Design" into data processing procedures.
- Manage data subject access request (DSAR) programs and ensure timely responses.
- Develop data governance frameworks for enterprise-wide adherence to retention and deletion schedules.
- Monitor global regulatory changes and assist in incident or data breach response evaluations.
Eligibility
- Law degree (JD or equivalent) with at least 3+ years of experience in data protection or privacy law.
- Demonstrated expertise in GDPR, CCPA, and evolving global privacy frameworks.
- Deep understanding of IT systems and their connection to data collection and processing.
- Proficiency in interpreting privacy regulations and communicating risks to business partners.
- Privacy certification (CIPP, CIPT, CIPM, or CISSP) is preferred.
- Additional language skills in French, German, or Spanish are a plus.
