Details of the Job/Internship

Cognizant is hiring a Real Estate Counsel with experience of 6–8 years to join their office in Chennai. The role involves providing comprehensive legal support and strategic advice on a wide range of real estate matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws while collaborating with internal teams, external counsel, and government authorities.

Role and Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate real estate agreements including leases, sale and purchase agreements, joint development agreements, licences, and MOUs.
• Provide legal advice on property acquisitions, disposals, leasing, due diligence, and title verification.
• Advise on zoning, land use, RERA compliance, and regulatory matters.
• Manage real estate litigation and dispute resolution in coordination with external counsel.
• Conduct legal risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
• Stay updated on relevant laws and inform management of changes.
• Assist in drafting and implementing company policies related to real estate matters.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business objectives.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a reputed institution.
• 6–8 years of post-qualification experience in real estate law.
• Strong knowledge of Indian property law, RERA, land acquisition, stamp duty, registration, and municipal regulations.
• Experience in handling large-scale real estate transactions, due diligence, and title verification.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and business acumen.

Salary/Stipend
