Details of the Job/Internship
Cognizant Corporate is hiring a Real Estate Counsel with 6–8 years of experience to join its Legal team, based in Chennai or Bangalore. The role involves providing comprehensive legal support and strategic advice on a wide range of real estate matters, working closely with internal stakeholders, external counsel, and government authorities. The position may require travel for site visits, negotiations, or hearings and offers significant opportunities for learning and growth within a collaborative environment.
Role and Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate real estate agreements including leases, sale and purchase agreements, joint development agreements, licences, and MOUs.
- Provide legal support on property acquisitions, disposals, leasing, due diligence, and title verification.
- Advise on zoning, land use, RERA compliance, and other regulatory matters.
- Manage real estate-related litigation and dispute resolution, coordinating with external counsel when required.
- Conduct legal risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
- Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations and update management accordingly.
- Assist in drafting and implementing internal policies and procedures related to real estate.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as project, finance, and compliance to support business objectives.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a reputed institution.
- 6–8 years of post-qualification experience in real estate law, preferably in a reputed law firm or in-house legal team.
- Strong knowledge of Indian property law, RERA, land acquisition, stamp duty, registration, and municipal regulations.
- Experience in large-scale real estate transactions, due diligence, and title verification.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- High standards of integrity, professionalism, and business acumen.
Salary/Stipend
