Details of the Job/Internship
V-Key is hiring a Regional Legal Counsel (Remote, based in Chennai) with 5–10 years of experience in corporate and commercial law, with exposure to IP and data privacy laws.
Role and Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts: NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, RFPs, consultancy agreements, source-code escrow, SLAs, etc.
- Manage employment law matters: draft policies and contracts, resolve employee disputes, and oversee ESOP documentation.
- Provide data privacy guidance: ensure product compliance with GDPR and regional laws, and conduct privacy impact assessments.
- Handle IP portfolio management and registrations.
- Advise internal teams on contractual issues, disputes, renewals, and debt recovery.
- Liaise with external counsel and secretarial teams on regulatory, audit, and compliance matters (SOC 2, etc.).
- Support litigation, disputes, and legal risk management.
- Implement legal tech solutions to optimize workflow and ensure legal best practices.
- Mentor junior team members and oversee the legal department’s budgeting.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Law; admitted to practice in India.
- 5–10 years of PQE in corporate/commercial law; in-house experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of IP and data privacy laws (CIPP/E or CIPP/A certification is a plus).
- Experience working with cross-border legal issues, especially in APAC.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills in English.
- Independent, strategic thinker with strong stakeholder management skills.
