Details of the Job/Internship

Godrej Properties Limited is hiring for the position of Regional Legal Head with 15 years of experience to join their office in Bengaluru. 

Role and Responsibilities

1. Legal Advisory & Business Support

• Provide strategic legal counsel to senior leadership on real estate development, corporate structuring, regulatory compliance, and commercial transactions.
• Interpret legal implications of business initiatives and support business decision-making with legally sound advice.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable real estate and commercial laws across jurisdictions.

2. Litigation Management

• Lead and manage the litigation portfolio including civil, criminal, arbitration, and real estate disputes.
• Coordinate with external legal counsel and law firms for ongoing cases and strategy development.
• Monitor legal proceedings, ensure timely filings, and maintain accurate legal records.
• Proactively manage litigation risks to protect company interests.

3. Contract Lifecycle Management

• Oversee drafting, review, and negotiation of key legal documents such as JV agreements, lease deeds, MOUs, development agreements, procurement and vendor contracts.
• Establish and manage robust contract management systems for documentation, compliance tracking, and reporting.
• Ensure legal soundness and risk mitigation in all contractual engagements.

4. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Mitigation

• Ensure adherence to legal and statutory requirements under RERA and other real estate regulations.
• Develop and implement compliance frameworks across projects and geographies.
• Identify emerging legal risks and provide risk mitigation strategies proactively.

5. Team Leadership

• Lead and develop a high-performing legal team, driving excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Set clear performance goals, review delivery metrics, and ensure team alignment with business priorities.
• Guide legal training initiatives and keep the team updated on evolving legal and regulatory landscapes.

6. Stakeholder & External Relations

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project heads, sales, finance, and compliance.
• Build and manage relationships with external counsel, regulatory authorities, and industry bodies.
• Present legal updates, case reviews, and risk assessments to senior leadership and the Board.

7. Corporate Governance & Strategic Transactions

• Ensure corporate governance best practices are adhered to across the organization.
• Advise on legal aspects of mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, and strategic partnerships.
• Support the Board and leadership in ensuring ethical and compliant business conduct.

Eligibility

• Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a reputed university
• Master's degree (LLM) or MBA in Legal/Business Management is preferred
• Experience
• Minimum 15 years of relevant legal experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity
• Strong background in the real estate sector is highly preferred
• Proven expertise in litigation management, regulatory compliance, real estate laws (including RERA), and contract negotiation
• Demonstrated experience managing legal aspects of large-scale real estate projects across metro cities
