Details of the Job/Internship

Centre for Mental Health Law & Policy is looking for a Research Associate to support Outlive’s peer support programme. 

Outlive is a four-year (2020-2024) suicide prevention programme that engages young people aged 18-24 with experiences related to suicide or self-harm, distress or mental health problems and belonging to marginalised communities in Delhi, Mumbai and Pune.   

Outlive’s peer support programme aims to improve young people’s access to peer support for youth suicide prevention. As part of the programme, Outlive trains and mentors a network of young volunteers across Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune to provide chat-based emotional support to youth experiencing distress or having thoughts of ending their life. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Develop training and outreach materials on peer support and suicide prevention for young people. 
• Conduct capacity-building workshops to train youth volunteers as peer supporters.   
• Recruit, mentor, support, and supervise peer supporters and team personnel. 
• Identify and develop linkages with civil society organisations and other stakeholders for the project.
• Contribute to documentation and dissemination of project activities.  
• Organise outreach and dissemination events and activities. 

Eligibility

Essential 

• Master’s degree in public health, psychology, social work, or allied disciplines. 
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience in project management, capacity building, and/or implementation research. 
• Experience of working in suicide prevention, or providing crisis/emotional support to young people.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and team management skills. 
• Can communicate effectively in English & Hindi (verbal). 
• Can work independently and in a team.  

Desirable: Can communicate effectively in Marathi (written and verbal)
