The Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy (“Vidhi”) is an independent think tank doing legal research to make better laws and improve governance for the public good. Vidhi is committed to producing legal research of the highest standard with the aim of informing public debate and contributing to improved governance. Vidhi works with Ministries of the Government of India and State Governments, as well as other public institutions, providing research and drafting support at various stages of law-making.
Details of the Job/Internship
The Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy is looking for a Research Fellow - Disability Inclusion and Access Team with 0 to 2 years of experience to join them at their office in New Delhi.
Role and Responsibilities
- Undertake high quality legal research on Indian and international legal and policy frameworks, including research for interdisciplinary projects.
- Provide research and legislative drafting assistance for engaged projects in the area of disability law, cutting across other practice areas.
- Conceptualize, develop and execute independent research projects on critical and upcoming legal issues in this area.
- Prepare reports, notes, presentations and such other material necessary for dissemination of Vidhi’s work in the disability space.
- Coordinate, support and participate in meetings and consultations with concerned stakeholders, along with preparation of briefing materials and follow-up on action items.
- Preparing research notes, analyses, briefs, and other materials to support internal discussions and decision-making by senior leadership.
- Assisting with fundraising efforts through background research on prospective funders, preparation of concept notes and grant materials, and related tasks.
- Undertaking other tasks and responsibilities as may be required (such as preparing research notes, analysis, briefs, and other materials) to support the work of the team’s lead in their capacity as a member of Vidhi’s Strategy Team.
Eligibility
- Undergraduate degree in law.
- 0-2 years of demonstrable work experience in the domain of legal research, academia, or litigation in disability law, human rights, or allied areas.
- Excellent legal research and writing skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to take initiative, work in a team, as well as work independently on certain tasks with minimal supervision.
Salary/Stipend
Compensation details will be finalized during the interview process with the selected candidate.
