Details of the Job/Internship
SM Legal Advocates & Solicitors is hiring a Senior Associate – Indirect Tax Litigation & Advisory with a minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in the tax domain to join their office in Kolkata.
Role and Responsibilities
- Brief senior advocates on case matters and prepare comprehensive case summaries.
- Conduct legal research on indirect tax matters and prepare research notes.
- Appear independently for case mentioning, procedural matters, and urgent applications.
- Draft legal opinions, writ petitions, appeals, replies, and rejoinders.
- Manage and ensure timely preparation and submission of legal documents.
- Assist during hearings, prepare notes, and coordinate with clients.
- Maintain organized case files and track case progress.
Eligibility
- Law degree (LLB/BA LLB/BBA LLB) from a recognized institution.
- Enrolled with the Bar Council of West Bengal.
- Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience in the tax domain.
- Strong understanding of indirect tax laws, including GST, Service Tax, Customs, and Excise.
- Based in Kolkata.
- Excellent research, drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in legal databases and good command of English and the local language.
