Details of the Job/Internship

Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) is hiring a Senior Associate – Legal & Regulation with a minimum of 5 years of experience to join their office in Bengaluru.

Role and Responsibilities

• Assist with legal and regulatory matters.
• Draft and manage contracts, including procurement, construction, and IPR-related contracts.
• Provide documentation and transactional advisory support.
• Draft institutional processes, memos, and legal opinions.
• Undertake legal and regulatory due diligence.
• Support litigation proceedings.
• Conduct research and academic work related to urban law, policy, and higher education.
• Analyze laws, policies, and case laws related to higher education, both in India and abroad.
• Support IIHS activities including academics, research, training, and operations.
• Participate in all activities of institution-building at IIHS.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Law.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the not-for-profit sector.
• Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Excellent communication skills in written English.
• Good communication skills and fluency in Hindi/Kannada (written and spoken).
• Ability to conduct rigorous legal research with strong drafting and transactional skills.
• Competence in understanding laws in context and proposing iterative solutions.
• Expertise in handling litigation-related matters.
• Experience working with government agencies/entities.

Salary/Stipend
