Details of the Job/Internship
Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) is hiring a Senior Associate – Legal & Regulation with a minimum of 5 years of experience to join their office in Bengaluru.
Role and Responsibilities
- Assist with legal and regulatory matters.
- Draft and manage contracts, including procurement, construction, and IPR-related contracts.
- Provide documentation and transactional advisory support.
- Draft institutional processes, memos, and legal opinions.
- Undertake legal and regulatory due diligence.
- Support litigation proceedings.
- Conduct research and academic work related to urban law, policy, and higher education.
- Analyze laws, policies, and case laws related to higher education, both in India and abroad.
- Support IIHS activities including academics, research, training, and operations.
- Participate in all activities of institution-building at IIHS.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Law.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the not-for-profit sector.
- Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills in written English.
- Good communication skills and fluency in Hindi/Kannada (written and spoken).
- Ability to conduct rigorous legal research with strong drafting and transactional skills.
- Competence in understanding laws in context and proposing iterative solutions.
- Expertise in handling litigation-related matters.
- Experience working with government agencies/entities.
Salary/Stipend
