Details of the Job/Internship
Bechtel is seeking a Senior Contracts Specialist with 10 years of experience to join their team in a remote capacity.
Role and Responsibilities
- Subcontract Formation & Negotiation:
- Develop and issue subcontracts and service agreements with minimal supervision.
- Prepare bidders’ lists and pre-qualify vendors.
- Draft project- and package-specific commercial terms and conditions.
- Assist Engineering, Construction, and Operations teams in service requisition and scope of work preparation.
- Coordinate bid requests, bid evaluations, clarifications, and contract execution.
- Conduct in-house estimations for benchmarking and job-hour analysis.
- Subcontract Administration & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and financial reporting.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and maintain accurate project records.
- Organize and facilitate pre-award meetings, bid clarifications, and contract negotiation sessions.
- Handle contract modifications and risk assessments to mitigate financial or technical challenges.
- Oversee contract close-out processes, ensuring timely completion and compliance.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Risk Management:
- Act as a key liaison between Engineering, Construction, Finance, Legal, and Compliance teams.
- Advise on contractual risks, financial implications, and mitigation strategies.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes, project-specific compliance, and best practices.
- Conduct internal training sessions on contractual policies and procedures.
Eligibility
Educational Background:
- Degree in Contracts/Construction Management, Law, Civil/Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Professional Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in subcontracts and contract management, preferably within the engineering and construction industry.
- Hands-on experience in the formation and administration of subcontracts for global projects.
Technical Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of contract law, negotiations, and risk assessment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for commercial bid evaluation and cost benchmarking.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing construction, energy, and infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and contract management software.
