Details of the Job/Internship
Caterpillar Inc. is hiring a Senior Corporate Counsel to join their office in Bengaluru East. The role is part of the India Legal Expertise and Support group and involves delivering and managing comprehensive legal support across a variety of matters in India, with a strong focus on new business initiatives, projects, regulatory compliance, and litigation management.
Role and Responsibilities
- Lead legal support related to transactions, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and litigation for Cat Financials’ core business in India.
- Research complex legal issues and review and draft complex legal documents.
- Implement legal strategies and goals aligned with business objectives in India.
- Advise senior management and business leaders and provide clear recommendations on legal matters.
- Assess legal risks and identify solutions to address issues involving varied risk exposure.
- Support team engagement and development.
- Collaborate with line unit leadership, AP Regional Counsel, relevant legal teams, and external counsel to ensure responsive and high-quality legal support.
Eligibility
- Legal knowledge and practical experience in managing financial services.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements, including those of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
- Knowledge of legal analysis methods and tools, with the ability to read, interpret, and draw accurate conclusions from legal and factual information.
- In-depth understanding of the financial leasing industry to support business requirements effectively.
- Knowledge of risk management processes, tools, and techniques to assess and manage organisational exposure to risk.
- Strategic thinking abilities with an enterprise-wide perspective.
- Leadership knowledge and people management skills.
- Strong problem-solving ability with the initiative to identify risks and resolve issues effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate across organisational levels, functions, and with external parties.
- Strong decision-making and critical-thinking skills.
