Microsoft is hiring for the position of Senior Corporate Counsel with 12+ years of experience to join their office in Gurugram. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Legal Advice & Counsel
• Serve as primary legal advisor for major products, business groups, or corporate functions.
• Provide actionable guidance on a wide range of issues, including IP licensing and business model strategies.
• Draft, negotiate, and review policies, agreements, and transactional documents.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to shape strategies and resolve complex legal matters.
• Oversee outside counsel relationships, ensuring quality and cost-effective service delivery.
• Monitor compliance with Microsoft’s legal and regulatory standards and mitigate associated risks.
• Regulatory Affairs & Litigation
• Manage litigation end-to-end—coordinate with outside counsel, provide strategic inputs, and ensure timely resolution.
• Handle communications and escalations from government authorities with professionalism and collaboration.
• Lead compliance advisory for complex deals across multiple business segments.
• Support statutory filings and ensure adherence to Indian legal requirements.
• Representing Microsoft
• Engage with industry bodies, legal forums, and government entities to advance Microsoft’s policy objectives.
• Build and maintain strong networks with external legal professionals, academics, officials, and partners.
• Represent Microsoft at conferences, workshops, and policy consultations.
• Operational Excellence
• Develop best practices for legal and regulatory matters.
• Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality.
• Manage budgets for outside counsel and vendors.
• Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality, privilege, and data security.
• Communication
• Frame complex legal issues into clear, actionable recommendations for senior executives.
• Provide concise, strategic advice in high-pressure, multi-dimensional business environments.

Eligibility

• Juris Doctor (JD), LL.B., or equivalent international legal qualification.
• Active license to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction.
• 12+ years of legal practice experience (including 8+ years in-house, preferably with multinational corporations).

Salary/Stipend
