Microsoft is hiring for the position of Senior Corporate Counsel with 12+ years of experience to join their office in Gurugram.
Role and Responsibilities
- Legal Advice & Counsel
- Serve as primary legal advisor for major products, business groups, or corporate functions.
- Provide actionable guidance on a wide range of issues, including IP licensing and business model strategies.
- Draft, negotiate, and review policies, agreements, and transactional documents.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to shape strategies and resolve complex legal matters.
- Oversee outside counsel relationships, ensuring quality and cost-effective service delivery.
- Monitor compliance with Microsoft’s legal and regulatory standards and mitigate associated risks.
- Regulatory Affairs & Litigation
- Manage litigation end-to-end—coordinate with outside counsel, provide strategic inputs, and ensure timely resolution.
- Handle communications and escalations from government authorities with professionalism and collaboration.
- Lead compliance advisory for complex deals across multiple business segments.
- Support statutory filings and ensure adherence to Indian legal requirements.
- Representing Microsoft
- Engage with industry bodies, legal forums, and government entities to advance Microsoft’s policy objectives.
- Build and maintain strong networks with external legal professionals, academics, officials, and partners.
- Represent Microsoft at conferences, workshops, and policy consultations.
- Operational Excellence
- Develop best practices for legal and regulatory matters.
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality.
- Manage budgets for outside counsel and vendors.
- Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality, privilege, and data security.
- Communication
- Frame complex legal issues into clear, actionable recommendations for senior executives.
- Provide concise, strategic advice in high-pressure, multi-dimensional business environments.
Eligibility
- Juris Doctor (JD), LL.B., or equivalent international legal qualification.
- Active license to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction.
- 12+ years of legal practice experience (including 8+ years in-house, preferably with multinational corporations).
Salary/Stipend
