Details of the Job/Internship

Sovos is hiring a Senior Counsel – APAC with 6–8 years of experience to lead legal and secretarial functions from their Navi Mumbai office

Role and Responsibilities

• Commercial Support: Lead the drafting and negotiation of SaaS customer agreements and technology contracts across APAC.
• Corporate Governance: Own all Company Secretary duties, including Board Meetings, AGMs, EGMs, and maintaining statutory registers.
• Regulatory Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for the ROC, MCA, and RBI; ensure compliance with the Companies Act and FEMA (FDI/ECB).
• Employment Law: Advise on India-specific labor compliance, employee relations, and disciplinary actions.
• Strategy & Integration: Support post-acquisition integration, corporate restructuring, and APAC-wide dispute management.
• Global Alignment: Collaborate with international legal teams to ensure local India/APAC practices meet global Sovos standards.

Eligibility

• Mandatory: Qualified Company Secretary (CS) with active ICSI membership.
• Mandatory: Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB); LLM is a plus.
• Experience: 6–8 years of post-qualification experience, ideally within a global or multinational organization.
• Specialization: Proven experience managing compliance for Indian subsidiaries of foreign parent companies.
• Preferred: Familiarity with commercial laws in Singapore, Malaysia, or the U.A.E.
