Details of the Job/Internship
They are seeking an experienced legal research professional with a minimum of 10 years of experience in academia or legal or policy research. The ideal candidate will possess strong legal research skills, expertise in financial markets or the power sector, and the ability to conduct rigorous research that bridges doctrinal and empirical legal research with policy and institutional insights. Rather than focusing solely on academic publication, they are looking for someone driven to solve important contemporary economic and regulatory questions.
Role and Responsibilities
- Conceptualise and develop research ideas that address critical economic and policy issues.
- Design robust research methodologies, integrating doctrinal and empirical approaches.
- Conduct regulatory document analysis at scale, using technology, and design robust verification processes.
- Relate research findings to broader policy and institutional frameworks.
- Supervise junior colleagues in ongoing and future research projects, and guide their work.
- Communicate and coordinate with data and quantitative analyst colleagues; familiarity with data and quantitative analysis, and use of technology for large-scale empirical legal research, would be preferred.
- Engage with policymakers, industry experts, and stakeholders to translate research into actionable insights.
Eligibility
- A Master’s degree or equivalent in Law, or professional experience in the finance or electricity sector of comparable duration.
- Minimum 10 years experience in academia, policy research, or a think tank environment.
- Strong background in research and analysis.
- Deep understanding of financial markets or the power sector.
- Ability to independently structure research projects, from conceptualization to execution.
- Strong ability to translate research insights into relevant policy recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A passion for research that informs real-world policy and institutional reform.
