Details of the Job/Internship
Chegg is seeking a qualified law professional with 5 to 7 years of experience to join its legal team in India.
Role and Responsibilities
- Work closely with HR and provide pragmatic advice on a broad array of employment-related matters, including hiring, diversity and inclusion, employee relations, performance management, leaves of absence, compensation, benefits, and terminations.
- Review and revise employment policies and practices on a regular basis, and provide recommendations on compliance.
- Assist and advise on internal investigations conducted by Human Resources
- Organize and create training materials for internal clients as they relate to legal processes and procedures.
- Independently manage pre-litigation claims and agency charges and litigation, sometimes with the assistance of external counsel.
- Be a proactive member of the legal team assisting in the timely intake and response to internal client requests, distribution and collection of contract documents and project support documents for review by the Operations and Corporate Attorney and other members of the Legal Department.
- Interpret and apply contracting principles, applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Prepare, compile and conduct initial review of contract documents and proposed amendments.
- Make modifications or redlines to various department contracts, including but not limited to, IT contracts, consulting agreements, vendor contracts, supplier contracts, partner agreements, and real estate leases.
- Track and maintain company contracts, including but not limited to HR/recruitment agreements.
- real estate leases, non-disclosure agreements, and IT/technology agreements.
- Updating and maintenance of legal dockets, logs, and spreadsheets.
- Organize and prepare various legal reports.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external clients.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships in the course of work.
- Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Eligibility
- Bachelor's in law degree required.
- Employment Law background and experience preferred, or Company Secretary experience.
- Experience working for a U.S. headquartered/MNC Company is preferred.
- Excellent communication and written skills.
- Good business acumen, judgment, and discretion.
- Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat Experience required.
Salary/Stipend
