Details of the Job/Internship
Agoda is hiring a Senior Legal Counsel – Employment (Maternity Cover) for its Gurugram office. The role requires 10-12 years of experience in employment law and industrial relations.
Role and Responsibilities
- Advising and supporting the People Department and the general legal function on all employment, equity and pension-related legal issues globally.
- Managing all aspects of the relationship with specialist external legal counsel globally, including the review and oversight of panel law firms and the negotiation of panel law firm fees
- Preparing, reviewing, negotiating, and finalizing legal documentation, including employment contract and contract templates, severance agreements, confidentiality agreements, and human resource policy documents, as required by the People Department.
- Supporting the senior management teams of the Legal & Compliance and People functions by contributing to strategic planning and discussions as part of the continuous improvement of both functions.
- Acting as the lead Legal representative for all HR Legal matters in projects relating to employees globally
- Conducting own research and professional updates to provide advice and regular updates in relation to legislation and regulation affecting human resources.
- Assisting with management of employment-related disputes, both internal and external to the organization, including the oversight and control of any litigation and tribunal proceedings.
- Assisting with operations and management as needed to achieve and maintain legal and regulatory compliance, including the reporting of any alleged breaches of company policies, as required, and providing assistance with any relevant investigations into such breaches.
Eligibility
- Legal qualification (eg: Juris Doctor degree) from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 10-12 years of legal experience in employment law and industrial relations.
- Strong project management skills and comfortable with handling multiple tasks.
- Proactive, hands-on attitude, well-organized, with excellent writing and articulation skills.
- Creative thinker with problem-solving abilities and eagerness to learn and grow as an individual contributor.
