Details of the Job/Internship

JustAct – Seamless ODR Platform is hiring a Senior Legal Counsel for online Dispute Resolution & Compliance in Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai. Candidates must have 5+ years of experience and will report to the CEO and COO.

Role and Responsibilities

Arbitration Process Governance & Compliance

• Audit end-to-end arbitration proceedings to ensure compliance with Indian and international arbitration laws.
• Establish, refine, and enforce internal arbitration protocols and best practices.
• Ensure arbitrators, mediators, and case managers adhere to ethical, legal, and procedural standards.
• Conduct periodic risk assessments to mitigate non-compliance, bias, or procedural gaps.

Legal Team Training & Mentorship

• Train and mentor case managers, arbitrators, and legal teams on arbitration laws, case handling, and procedural integrity.
• Develop knowledge-sharing initiatives on evolving arbitration frameworks and ODR advancements.
• Conduct workshops on compliance, ethical case management, and dispute resolution strategies.

Client & Regulatory Liaison

• Serve as the primary legal point of contact for corporate clients, regulatory bodies, and government legal departments.
• Address and resolve client legal queries related to arbitration processes and compliance.
• Represent JustAct in legal and regulatory forums, arbitration institutions, and industry bodies.

Risk & Integrity Oversight

• Investigate disputes involving procedural violations, arbitrator impartiality concerns, or compliance breaches.
• Ensure fairness in arbitration awards by monitoring case outcomes and handling challenges or appeals.
• Implement robust risk mitigation frameworks to prevent fraud, conflict of interest, or unethical conduct.

Eligibility

• LL.B. from a recognized institution (LL.M. or additional certifications in Arbitration/ODR is a plus).
• 5+ years of experience in arbitration, dispute resolution, litigation, or legal compliance.
• Strong knowledge of the Arbitration & Conciliation Act, UNCITRAL Model Law, and international arbitration frameworks.
• Experience in ODR, legal-tech, or institutional arbitration is highly desirable.
• Proven ability to train, mentor, and lead legal professionals and arbitrators.
