Details of the Job/Internship

Emerald Clinical is hiring a Senior Legal Counsel with 10–15 years of experience to lead its global legal function in Bengaluru. The role involves overseeing all legal operations, guiding business strategy, and ensuring compliance and risk mitigation across global regions.

Role and Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the global legal team.
• Provide strategic legal advice to executive leadership.
• Develop and implement legal frameworks, policies and procedures.
• Oversee negotiation, review and management of client agreements, vendor contracts, confidentiality agreements and partnership arrangements.
• Advise on corporate governance, data protection, intellectual property, employment matters and commercial disputes.
• Support M&A, investment activity and strategic projects.
• Manage regulatory interactions and ensure compliance across the UK, Europe, APAC and the US.
• Conduct training to strengthen legal awareness and compliance.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the legal function.
• Manage global compliance and company secretarial matters.
• Oversee global facilities portfolio and negotiate lease amendments and agreements.
• Handle corporate ESG reporting requirements.
• Manage global insurance policies.

Eligibility

• Qualified lawyer with 10–15 years of post-qualification experience in a global organisation.
• Experience in life sciences, CRO, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals or highly regulated sectors.
• Strong leadership skills and experience managing legal teams.
• Expertise in contract negotiation, risk management, governance and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to advise senior executives and influence across all levels.
• Experience handling complex multi-jurisdictional legal matters.
• Strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking.
• Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Salary/Stipend
