Details of the Job/Internship

Genpact is hiring a Senior Legal Counsel with significant professional experience to support its operations in Chennai and Madurai. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide legal guidance on Tamil Nadu employment laws and ensure fulfillment of statutory filings (CLRA, BOCW, etc.).
• Handle employment-related litigation before courts and tribunals, managing external counsel where necessary.
• Oversee real estate legalities, including the structuring of leases, development agreements, and government land auctions.
• Advise on local government concessions and rebates available for setting up regional offices.
• Conduct internal investigations regarding policy violations, including Ombudsperson and Sexual Harassment cases.
• Liaise with government authorities and law enforcement agencies for regulatory licenses and registrations.
• Support India-based and global teams on central initiatives while maintaining local compliance standards.
• Draft, vet, and negotiate vendor agreements to ensure consistent risk mitigation across functions.

Eligibility

• LLB from a reputed college.
• Proven track record in dealing with law enforcement, tribunals, and regulatory agencies.
• Expert knowledge of recent changes in Indian Labour Laws and the newly implemented Labour Codes.
• Mandatory Language Proficiency: Excellent communication skills (Speaking, Reading, and Writing) in both English and Tamil.
• Ability to apply practical business judgment to complex legal risks.
• Preferred: Experience in the IT/ITES sector managing legal and compliance functions.
